PDL's members understand the importance of professional indemnity insurance and the reassurance it gives them to practice pharmacy with professional peace of mind. Apart from arranging PI insurance through Guild Insurance Limited (GIL), it is also an important source of sponsorship and funding for events and activities of the various educational institutions and official pharmacy bodies.But PDL doesn't often blow its own trumpet which means that a lot of the things we do behind the scenes is not known to the majority of pharmacists. For example, PDL is often called on by pharmacy bodies for legal advice on new initiatives and professional programs; especially activity which might impact on the legal risk of practising pharmacy.
