Boggabri coal mine is a large-scale open pit coal mine in the Gunnedah Basin, NSW and started a coal productionin 2006. The main type of coal produced is thermal coal for export, and the production volume of saleable coal in 2014 was5.58 million tons. Boggabri Joint Venture (Boggabri JV) has a 100% interest in Boggabri coal mine. Through Boggabri JV, theinterest in this coal mine is 80% owned by Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. and 10% each by The Chugoku Electric Power Co.,Inc. and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC). Each of The Chugoku Electric Power and NSSMCacquired a 10% equity interest in Boggabri JV from Idemitsu Kosan in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
