Calcifying tumor of the pleura (CTP), also referred to as calcifying fibrous tumor/pseudotumor, is an extremely rare benign fibrous lesion, characterized histopathologically by collagenized paucicellular tissue with bland spindle cells, psammomatous and/or dystrophic calcification, and lympho-plasmacytic infiltration.1 Fetsch etal. reported 10 cases of this entity in 1993, and named it calcifying fibrous pseudotu-mor.2 This tumor is known to occur at various sites including the extremities and trunk, but the abdominal cavity and peritoneum are the most common sites. Although the occurrence of this tumor in the pleura has been documented very rarely, multiple/disseminated lesions in the pleura have been previously reported.1'3~8 Herein, we describe an additional case of disseminated CTP and discuss the clinicopathological features and histogenesis of this extraordinary rare tumor.
