Statistical determination of the effects of enzymes on bleached pulp yield

Enzyme bleaching techniques selectively remove xylan from the surface of pulp fiber before conventional bleaching stages.Over the years,the effect of enzymes on total bleached pulp yield has been debated.The xylan removed by enzymes could have been removed by the harsher bleaching conditions prevalent in non-enzyme containing bleach sequences.Perhaps enzymes remove more xylan than would have been removed in typical bleaching and thus decrease the pulp yield.
