THE STATE OF PERITONEAL DIALYSIS IN FRANCE

In France, a Large number of patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) receive home assistance. Lobbedez et al. report their experience in this.issue of Peritoneal Dialysis International, providing thefirst description of what is currently being done in most French centers (1), as evidenced by data from the French PD registry (Table 1). As of 1977, when PD was introduced in France, patients who cannot perform self-PD at home can be assisted by a private nurse. A countrywide network of 54000 private nurses (12% of all French nurses) has been set up.
