These authors surveyed laparoscopic nephrectomy training from the viewpoints of both residents and attending physicians. Although surveys have obvious limitations, this study attempts to answer a vitally important question. It is not surprising that disagreement exists between the perceptions of residents and attending physicians with regard to laparoscopic nephrectomy training. I could not imagine it any other way. Training in port closure and hilar dissection showed the most consistency, die former because attending physicians probably uniformly concede this part of the procedure, and the latter because it is easy to remember who actually dissects the renal hilum
