摘要

Dr. Tom F. Lue graduated from the Kaohsiung Medical College in Taiwan in 1972. After completing his urologic training at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, he was awarded the Valentine Fellowship from the New York Academy of Medicine to pursue studies of the neurophysiology of the genitourinary tract at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1981.Since then, Dr. Lue has been actively involved in basic and clinical research in erectile dysfunction, priapism, and Peyronie's disease. In basic research, his team discovered the anatomic mechanism of venous occlusion that is essential for achieving and maintaining penile erection. His laboratory was the first to show that inhibition of phosphodiesterase type 5 improved erections in animal experiments. His team also developed animal models for vasculogenic and neurogenic erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, overactive bladder, and stress urinary incontinence.
