Utilization of business process models in managerial practice: An empirical study in Slovak companies certified to the ISO 9001 standard

If a company claims to have implemented a process approach, a developed business process model in place will be the proof. A business process model is a managerial system model that encompasses all of the company's processes. Every process includes a set of activities; every activity has a set of the process' attributes and every process attribute can be parameterized by its performance indicator. The In this article focuses on those companies certified to ISO 9001, therefore the differences can be because the uniqueness of each company, and due to the built in flexibility of ISO 9001 standards. The development of the process model involves various functions such as information management, business process management, and quality management. The four areas this study examined are the process model and its elements, utilization the process models of certified companies in managerial practice, correlation between the extent and the utilization of the process model and possible causes for variation in usage of the process model between companies. If the enterprise has created the process model and uses it in management, there must be a level of dependence between the extent and the utilization of the model and this aspect is also examined in this study.
