Attack of insect pests on any crop depends mainly upon time of sowing/transplanting, variety crop rotation, water and fertilizer management. The control measures to be taken alsodepends upon the pest situation in the field. Attack of insect pests on any crop depends mainly upon time of sowing/transplanting, variety of the crop, crop rotation, water and fertilizer management and moreover on the environment conditions prevailing throughout the season. It is not necessary that a pest which is serious during one season may be serious in the next season also. Paddy leaf folder was not serious at all during kharif 2002. The control measures to be taken also depends upon the pest situation in the field. The crop should be sprayed only when the situation warrants.
