Vulvar pruritus is a common symptom that most women will experience during their lifetime. As discussed in part I of this 2-part series, many factors can contribute to a mixed clinical presentation and potentially impede evaluation and management. However, use of an organized clinical approach can lead to accurate diagnosis and improved clinical outcomes. Further discussion of the most common causes of vulvar pruritus will enhance understanding of their unique clinical characteristics with a focus on individual management. This article reviews the most common vulvar dermatoses encountered in clinical practice, including contact dermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus (LSC), lichen sclerosus (LS), lichen planus (LP), and psoriasis.
