Crop treatments to combat salmonella

Real-world production challenges make the crop a source of confamincrfion in the plant. Is there a way to reduce this danger? Is there a way to reduce food-borne pathogens in the poultry processing plant by reducing the level of contamination of poultry carcasses before they ever arrive there? Researchers at the Southern Plains Agricultural Research Center in College Station, Texas, identified three different farm-based approaches for reducing contamination of poultry carcasses in the plant. While none of the approaches is a 'magic bullet' to eradicate food-borne pathogens during processing, an additive to the birds' drinking water during feed withdrawal was identified as a potentially beneficial part of an integrated control programme.
