Saving six inches of horizontal (fore and aft) space allows automotive design engineers to give consumers a larger passenger compartment. Or, the same passenger space can be accommodated in a shorter vehicle. On its A2 model, Audi uses new Nylon/Metal Hybrid Technology by Faurecia and Bayer to produce a compact integrated front end module that saves those six inches-as well as providing a 30% weight saving and a 5% cost saving.
