China's domestic thermal coal prices continue to rise

China's domestic thermal coal prices continued their upward trend in the week ended April 20, the fifth in a row, according to weekly price monitors at Qinhuangda Port on April 20. Free-on-board (FOB) prices of 5,500 kcal/kg thermal coal at Qinhuangdao Port moved up Yuan 15/mt to the range of Yuan 800-810/mt ($122.42-123.95/mt, including 17% VAT) in the past week. FOB prices of thermal coal with a heating value of 5,800-6,000 kcal/kg moved up Yuan 5/mt to the range of Yuan 840-850/mt ($128.70 130.24/mt). FOB prices of 5,000 kcal/kg thermal coal also rose Yuan 15/mt to the range of Yuan 700-710/mt ($107.20-108.73/mt).
