US EIA to OPEC: No need for summer cut: Agency cites low stocks, high prices

OPEC does not need to cut oil production quotas until the fall because of already strong prices and low inventories in consuming countries, the US Energy Information Administration said June 6. Low stock levels were the primary reason the agency, the statistical arm of the US Energy Department, raised its forecast for third-quarter West Texas Intermediate spot prices by US2.57/bll to US29/bbl.
