Lukoil confident of keeping Iraqi deal

Russia's Lukoil is confident it will hold onto a 1997 production-sharing agreement to develop Iraq's West Qurna oil field despite the Iraqi oil ministry having canceled the contract late last year, a senior company official said June 4. The executive said Lukoil has made initial contacts with the interim US administration in Baghdad and has people in Baghdad pursuing the contract.
