Biology and Control of The Tea Mosquito

摘要

The tea mosquito, Helopeltis theivora is an important pest of tea, especially in north east India and to a limited extent in Peermade - Vandiperiyar region of Kerala. In recent years, this pest has caused serious crop loss in the tea gardens of northeast India. Though the occurrence of this pest in south India is largely confined to the central and south Travancore regions, recently its extensive incidence has been noticed in the Anamallais, indicating that the pest may expand its area of infestation. The present write up is consequent to this observation.
