摘要

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI; www.epri.com) is collaborating with General Motors (GM) and 34 utilities companies to facilitate integration of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) into the electric grid, a key step in providing North American drivers with an alternative to petroleum fuels. EPRI has been working to advance plug-in hybrids and related infrastructure technology, but close collaboration with the automobile and electricity sectors will be needed to accelerate large-scale deployment of PHEVs and create a blueprint for an electric fuel infrastructure. The collaboration will also address issues that ensure safe and convenient vehicle charging, public education, and public policy requirements to enable a smooth introduction of PHEVs as an alternative to conventional vehicles.
