Handbook on Trade and the Environment

Electronic waste, non-invasive species, and Middle-East trade-environment policy-making - these are just some of the unusual topics covered in Kevin Gallagher's new Handbook on Trade and the Environment (hereafter HTE). This eclectic collection introduces the reader to a broad set of issues related to the trade and environment debate. As Gallagher states in his introductory chapter, the book is not meant to be exhaustive. Instead, it is meant to be 'comprehensive' in that it covers a wide variety of issues from a number of different disciplines and viewpoints. This sets it apart from other in-depth comprehensive economic literature reviews, such as Copeland and Taylor (2004), or collections of seminal economic studies, such as in Dean (2001).
