Tata International announces Ethiopia tannery project

Indian industrial group Tata International has said it plans to set up a new tannery and leathergoods manufacturing facility in Ethiopia. Kaul, confirmed to local media that this would represent a first move outside India for Tata International's leather-making division. The addition of a new tannery in Ethiopia, plus expansion of its Indian tanneries, located in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu states, would bring its production capacity to six million square-feet per month, he said, an increase of 50% on the company's current capacity.
