摘要

The European Commission gave its support October 8 to European Parliament amendments that reject demands by some European Union member states to impose rules ordering Internet service providers to terminate the accounts of customers found to have illegally downloaded more than three times copyrighted material, such as music and movies.rnEuropean Information Society Commissioner Viviane Reding said that the EU executive body would respect amendments approved September 25 as part of an overarching legislation plan to reform the EU telecom regulatory framework. Reding's statement, made at a conference on copyright protection and the Internet, came after French President Nicolas Sarkozy wrote to the EU executive demanding that it reject the European Parliament amendment.
