Chile IP Office Begins Operations as International Search and Examination Authority Under PCT

Chile's National Institute of Intellectual Property has begun operating as an International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examination Authority under the terms of the Patent Cooperation Treaty. The World Intellectual Property Organization designated the government body, known as INAPI from its initials in Spanish, as an ISA/IPEA in October 2012, making it only the second in South America, after Brazil, and the second in a Spanish-speaking country, after Spain.
