A major acquisition looks likely for the construction machinery sector, with the German Wirtgen Group becoming part of Deere & Company. An agreement has been signed that will see Deere acquiring the Wirtgen Group. The US$5.2 billion deal will allow Deere to develop its operations worldwide, outside of its base in North America and provide a stronger presence in emerging markets.
