Ten years ago, in northern hemisphere countries, the idea of serving a plate of winged or wormy creatures on the dinner table would prompt raised brows, not to mention the squeamishness it triggers from fussy eaters. The dislike is much less today as notions of what is edible or not have evolved. From adventurous Millennials who delight in snacking to flexitarians who are in search of protein alternatives, insect-based food no longer sounds as distasteful as it used to be.
