摘要

There is no need for the "boom and bust" cycle. That is the view of Chris Loughlin, the boss of South West Water and chairman of Water UK. Loughlin told delegates at the recent Westminster Energy, Environment & Transport Forum that companies and the supply chain "need to get together and work this out". He is absolutely right. Having attended two events recently where the main topic of conversation was the forthcoming Water White Paper (WWP), the roller-coaster process resulting from the capital investment programmes only got a brief airing behind the subjects of climate change, affordability, competition and innovation. With this in mind, do not wait for the arrival of the White Paper - it is now expected this December - in the hope that a solution will be offered. AMP6 is not far away and, along with it, the next roller-coaster ride.
