Power station's Karl recognised

South West Water's Karl Jones has been nationally recognised for inspiring the next generation of technicians. A team manager by day at England's oldest working power station in Mary Tavy, West Dartmoor, Jones was shortlisted in the Inspirational Technician Award at the recent National STEMNET Awards 2011 in London for his commitment encouraging young people to take up science and technology subjects. As an ambassador for STEMNET (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network), he volunteers his time to help mould future technicians through activities such as building paper windmills with students and explaining magnetism to a primary school group.
