If the 'Mon & Bree' were connected to the main system, it would undoubtedly rival the Llangollen as the most popular canal in the country. Running, for much of its navigable length, through the Brecon Beacons National Park, and hugging the mountainside above the valley of the River Usk, it is one of the most scenic canals in the UK. Due to its isolation, it is also one of the quietest.
