Obituary: Laurence Hogg

Dedicated canal enthusiast, documentary video maker and businessman who chronicled the waterways and publicised the campaign to save the Lichfield & Hatherton restoration. When, in 1997, the M6 Toll motorway threatened to create an insuperable barrier to the Lichfield & Hatherton canals restoration, a major campaign was set in motion to draw attention to the issue. Laurence Hogg, at that time already a noted producer of canal videos, devised a publicity stunt and fundraising journey to further the cause.
