Pintail Boats has a hire base on the Lancaster Canal at Tewitfield offering both narrowboats and wide-beams for holidays. The company builds all its craft from scratch near Kirby Lonsdale, and attended the Crick Boat Show for the first time with a new wide-beam produced for its hire fleet. The boat, of a stretched cruiser-narrowboat style, is not enormous at 54ft long and 9ft 3in wide. Powered by a Beta 50 engine, it should not be difficult to handle the craft on the Lancaster Canal, which was built for barges. The extra width of the interior makes a big difference over a conventional narrowboat. The offset doors from the back deck lead straight into the social space with the galley area to starboard. The dinette converts, making this a six-berth boat, but it would be most comfortable for four. The corridor on the port side leads past the first generously sized shower room into the double bedroom. This has the bed across the boat, with space to continue past the second shower room to the front cabin. The bed here can either be a double or unzipped and moved apart to make two singles. Central doors lead out to the front well deck.
