Wide-beam boats can provide acres of space to live aboard, but often at the expense of external aesthetics and handling qualities - becoming little more than floating homes, destined never to move from a marina berth. The same cannot be said of Liverpool-based Burscough Boats' latest offering, which is designed to be both used and cruised. Following its Crick launch and Favourite Wide-beam in Show win, we joined the boat's owners, Nick and Jools Hurry, for their maiden voyage. On the fairly narrow Grand Union Canal near Weedon, What's the Hurry looks huge. However, this is not its ultimate destination as the owners hope to one day take the boat - most likely on the back of a lorry - to continental Europe. For now, though, they're content exploring the wider waterways of southern England.
