The Northern Sewerage Project (NSP) has achieved another major milestone with the completion of the final tunnel, almost two-and-a-half years since excavation began. The $650 million project will create 13km of new sewers under Melbourne's northern suburbs. The extra sewer capacity is essential in order to meet the needs of the rapidly growing population in Melbourne's north. More than 90,000 new houses are expected to be built in the outer northern suburbs over the next 20 years.
