The International Water Association's Specialist Group on Efficient Operations and Management has successfully organised several international conferences dealing with all aspects of the efficient use and management of urban water every two years since 2001.rnSydney, Australia is an ideal location for Efficient 2009 as for many years Australia has taken a leading role internationally in research, implementation and evaluation for water efficiency programmes for urban water. In recent years, urban water supply has been headline news in Sydney and around Australia as the country is experiencing extreme drought.
