SUDS welcome

The Environment Agency has joined OFWAT and Water UK to welcome the development of sustainable drainage systems, set out in the Government's recently published PPG25 planning guidance. Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are less damaging to natural habitats than traditional methods for surface water disposal. They use techniques to control water run-off as close to the surface as possible, before it enters a watercourse. This approach moves away from traditional piped drainage systems to engineering solutions that mimic natural drainage processes.
