Meeting H&S requirements through the intelligent use of Information Technology

Over the past decade more and more utilities have worked to drive down the costs of delivering water and wastewater services through more efficient use of their operations and maintenance (O&M) staff. As a consequence, staff are less likely to have local knowledge of the equipment and processes they are tasked with operating and maintaining. This has made the need for effective delivery of information imperative for the running of utility plant. Restricted access to key information could have severe implications for Health and Safety, notwithstanding the cost and customer service implications of undertaking inappropriate actions through inadequate information.
