One of the most important issues of recent years has been the environment, with research being undertaken in many European countries to determine which materials are the most environmentally friendly. Work undertaken in Finland, Germany, Austria, Sweden and the Netherlands has compared the different materials used for sewerage and drainage system - concrete, clay, ductile iron and various types of plastic.
