Agency announces resources strategy

The strategy concludes that large parts of the Vcountry can sustain no additional abstraction during summer, and in many areas current levels of abstraction are already damaging valuable habitats including chalk streams and wetlands. Rodney Anderson, Head of Water Supply and Regulation at DETR, said: "This document is an important milestone in water resources. It must be kept under annual review in view of climate change and the UK Climate Impact Programme."
