WATER, THE GIVER OF LIFE: A WICCAN PERSPECTIVE

Modern Wicca is a nature-based religion whose ritual practices follow the seasons. The core Wiccan beliefs that Deity is embodied in all that is leads Wiccans to respect the environment, not as a conqueror, but more as a steward. The Earth and all that lives on it is considered sacred. The degree of active environmentalism varies greatly between sects and individuals. To one degree orrnanother, all Wiccans consider ecology as a sacred duty. Water, in particular, is not only an important religious symbol, but more importantly, considered to be sacred -there is a religious duty for water to be conserved and protected.
