摘要

THE CITY OF OCALA (LOCATED IN NORTH-CENTRAL Florida), St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) are working together diligently planning for Florida’s future water supply. Water supply planning is essential for meeting resource demands of a growing population, while protecting the integrity of Florida’s waters. As prescribed in Florida Statutes Chapter 373, water management districts must regularly assess water supplies, identify potential water shortfalls, and work with stakeholders to develop solutions. This collaborative process involves scientific study of our water resources, assessment of water use impacts and potential project benefits, and partnerships among agencies to ensure the most cost-effective and beneficial project solutions. One such project that exemplifies this cooperative process in action and provides multiple benefits to the environment and the community is the Ocala Wetland Groundwater Recharge Park.
