From its northernmost headwaters in the Catskills of upstate New York, the Delaware River flows more than 300 miles downstream through some of the country's largest and most historically populated communities. This major river contains the largest undammed section east of the Mississippi, and the river basin provides clean drinking water for 15 million people-5% of the U.S. population - and touches four states: Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware.
