Gulf water changes aimed at economic growth

The planned release of thousands of megalitres of water will boost the economies of communities in Queensland's Gulf Region, according to the State Government. Queensland Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources, Anthony Lynham released on 22 August an amended Gulf Water Resource Plan and Gulf Resource Operations Plan. "This delivers on the government's commitment to promote jobs and boost the economies of local communities," Dr Lynham said. "We can now start a competitive tender process to make much-needed water available in Gulf communities to support sustainable farming, rural jobs and local development.
