This memoir, which was published in 1972, covers from the August 1945 Revolution through the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945; the efforts to negotiate with the French; the French re-invasion in the fall of 1946; President H(ô) Chí Minh's "Call for a Nationwide Resistance" on December 19, 1946; and the nationwide War of Resistance Against France. (Armed resistance to the French re-invasion in Vi(ê)t Nam's Southern Region (Cochinchina, Nam B(ô)) had begun on September 23,1945, three weeks after Vi(ê)t Nam's Declaration of Independence.)
