Can Tho City: Approving High-tech Agricultural Development Programme

The Can Tho City People's Committee has issued Decision No. 1294/QD-UBND to approve the high-tech agricultural construction and development programme until 2010 and vision to 2020. The total investment capital for this programme is more than VND3.100 billion (US$193.75 million), in which the state and local budgets account for 30 per cent. To realise the goals of keeping the growth rate of 5.5 - 6.5 per cent per annum and production value of over US$6,000 per hectare/year in 2020, Can Tho City will focus on key tasks, growing high-quality rice, expanding vegetable areas, developing fruit tree areas, growing bonsai plants, and developing husbandry.
