Osprey Spreads its Wings to Israel and HMX-1

The U.S. approved the first export sale of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor as part of a sweeping defense deal with Israel.That country has flight tested the aircraft several times in recent years, and the announcement was a long time coming. Bell Boeing has delivered more than 210 Ospreys to the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command. On May 4, the first of a dozen MV-22s was assigned to the Marines' HMX-1 squadron, which transports the U.S. president, other VIPs and their support personnel.The HMX-1 V-22s are not intended to carry the president.
