Bidders lining up for Chevron subsea prize

A select group of offshore installation contractors are preparing to submit new bids for a significant campaign of pipeline decommissioning work for US supermajor Chevron in Thailand. The original offers to decommission 53 subsea pipelines were submitted to Chevron last October but contracting sources said those original bids expired, although it is unclear why the process ran over its allotted timeline. Earlier this month, Chevron - headed by chief executive Mike Wirth - invited a collection of companies to submit new offers by 17 February 2021. The bidders, according to contracting sources, include Malaysia's Sapura Energy and Alam Maritim, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation, Thailand's Mermaid Maritime and STP&I, and Indonesian companies Meindo Elang Indah and Timas Suplindo.
