Lamprell leads chase for Aramco offshore contract

UK-LISTED Lamprell has emerged as the potential front runner for a prized engineering, procurement and construction contract from Saudi Aramco that involves offshore infrastructure required on Saudi Arabia's multiple oilfields. Upstream understands the offshore contract - named as contract release purchase order (CRPO) 67 - was offered to a select grouping of Aramco's long-term agreement (LTA) contractors. At least two people familiar with the development said that the Saudi state-controlled giant has selected Lamprell for the offshore EPC project and a contract is likely to be signed within weeks. The workscope involves the EPCI of at least three drilling jackets at the Marjan field, two new single-well observation platforms at Manifa, and one additional slipover jacket meant for the Safan-iyah oilfield, one person said.
