Aramco floats mega-tenders for huge Zuluf project

SAUDI Aramco has hit the market with multiple onshore and offshore tenders involving the expansion of its giant Zuluf oilfield in the Persian Gulf - a key element of Saudi Arabia's strategy to boost its oil production capacity to 13 million barrels per day. Aramco's much-delayed Zuluf incremental project is expected to cost upwards of $8 billion and aims to boost oil production by up to 600,000 bpd, almost doubling the field's existing production capacity. Zuluf currently produces about 550,000 to 600,000 bpd of crude from the Arabian Medium reservoir and Aramco is targeting additional production from the Arabian Heavy reservoir through its next expansion phase.
