TWO offshore services providers are poised to share the spoils in a huge Petrobras tender calling for the contracting of hundreds of kilometres of thermoplastic umbilicals (TPU) and associated equipment for developments off Brazil. According to well-informed industry sources, Brazilian player MFX emerged on top in the tender in which Petrobras is looking to contract up to 545.4 kilometres of TPUs, as well as technical assistance services for freight, pipe reels, storage, supervision and assembly. The state-controlled oil company has split the tender into two lots and MFX was the low bidder when considering the pair of offers combined, with a joint proposal worth nearly 1 billion reais ($195.2 million) for packages A and B.
