Losses posted for Talos

US independent Talos Energy ran up a second-quarter loss after posting a $95 million profit in the same period a year ago. The Gulf of Mexico-focused player on 5 August posted a quarterly loss of $140 million, or $2.14 per share. The company took in just $88.9 million in revenues compared to $287 million a year ago. Like many oil and gas players, Talos was forced to cut capital spending earlier this year after commodity prices plunged. The company slashed its capital guidance in March by $125 million for 2020 after previously forecasting spending of between $520 million and $545 million for the year. Talos expects its spending to remain in line with its forecast range of $355 million to $380 million for the full year 2020.
