UK services giant Petrofac has unveiled a new plan to hit ambitious net-zero emissions targets by the end of this decade despite vowing to pare back costs as it ran up a loss in the first half on dire market conditions. The London-listed contractor is aiming to be "the preferred services partner to the energy industry", chief executive Ayman Asfari said this week, as it aims for net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030. Scope 1 emissions refer to direct emissions, such as from production processes, while Scope 2 refers to indirect emissions, such as from energy purchased. The sustainability target was accompanied by an ambition to have 30% of women represented in senior roles - meaning executive management and their direct reports - also by the end of this decade.
