摘要

NIGERIAN efforts to hold a third exercise to license marginal oilfields left dormant for over a decade by majors has led to a surge of interest from indigenous companies, many with limited experience of exploration and production. Historically, only a handful of local entities securing upstream positions have successfully developed their assets, with just 16 marginal fields currently in production, yet the government has reported some 600 companies have expressed interest. Winning companies will have just two years to bring re-allocated fields onstream and will be instructed "in the tactics of aggressive work implementation," Department of Petroleum Resources director (DPR) Sarki Auwalu told the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists last week.
