Santos GLNG, a division of Australian independent Santos, has come to the rescue of a drought-stricken town in rural Queensland after donating a huge tank that will store water. The tank, which can store 7.5 million litres of water, was given to Southern Downs Regional Council and has been installed in the town of Warwick in the eastern Australian state. The town, located 160 kilometres west of Brisbane and which has a population of 20,000, was on the verge of running out of water at the beginning of this year. Then, Damien Doherty, manager pipelines at Santos GLNG and a former Warwick resident, had the idea of donating the A$500,000 (US$323,000) tank, which had to be relocated 400 kilometres by a team from manufacturers Concept Tank.
